Silver Cleaner

Miscellaneous

Ingredients

  • 1 aluminium sheet
(aluminium foil will do but thicker aluminium is preferable)
  • Washing soda
  • Hot water

Method

  1. Place the aluminium sheet at the bottom of a large basin and fill the basin with hot water. It is advisable to use plastic or rubber gloves for the next steps.
  2. Add a handful of ordinary washing soda.
  3. Place the silver to be cleaned into the washing soda solution, making sure that each piece touches the aluminium. The solution will bubble and fume but this is normal.
  4. Lift the pieces out from time to time to check on their state.
  5. Remove them and rinse in clean water when they are clean.
  6. Dry with a soft cloth.
