Cheese bites

Breads

Ingredients

  • 1 cup (150 g) flour
  • 1 teaspoon (5 ml) baking powder
  • 1 cup (100 g) mature cheddar cheese, finely grated
  • <½ cup (100 g) butter
  • 1 egg
  • ¼ cup (60 ml) milk
  • ¼ cup (50 g) chopped pecan nuts (optional)
    .......
  • 1 tablespoon (15 g) butter
  • 1 tablespoon (15 ml) Marmite

Method

  1. Sift the flour and baking powder into a bowl.
  2. Cut the butter into small cubes and rub it lightly into the flour; add the cheese and nuts, mix well.
  3. Beat the eggs with the milk, add to dry ingredients and blend.
  4. Drop teaspoonfuls of dough onto a greased baking sheet.
  5. Bake at 170° - 180° C for 10-15 minutes.
  6. Melt the butter and Marmite and dribble over the still hot bites.
  7. Cool.
     

Makes ±30 bites.
